How We Verify Listings

Student Accommodation Guide is free for students. This page explains how we check the information we publish, how we earn money, and what our checks do and do not cover.

What we verify

We check details against the provider’s own website, or against the university’s official housing page where the university runs the accommodation. Where a guide uses rent figures, it names the source and the month we checked it. For each listing we confirm that:

• the provider exists and publishes the accommodation on its own site;
• the location and nearest university match what the provider states;
• the room types and inclusions we describe (for example furnished rooms, utilities, shared kitchens) match the provider’s description;
• the application route we point to is the one the provider publishes.

When we cannot confirm a figure, we say so on the page rather than estimate it.

What this check does not cover

Our checks rely on the information providers and universities publish. They are not a property inspection, a safety audit or a review of resident experience. Prices, availability and deadlines change often, so always confirm the current details with the provider before you apply or pay a deposit.

Independence and how we earn money

We earn commission when a booking is made through our links, or when we share leads with a provider and a booking is confirmed. We also carry advertising and paid placements on city pages. A paid placement displays a property more prominently and is labelled as advertising. No provider can pay for a review or a ranking. See the commercial disclosure for details.
