Private rooms and agencies
The guide lists furnished rooms through rental agencies (Mitwohnzentralen) at €250 to €350 per room, and apartments at €350 to €400 a month. It says most landlords require a parental rental guarantee (Mietbürgschaft) and that utility costs in Cologne are high. It recommends securing housing before you arrive rather than expecting to find a room on the spot.
