Student accommodation in Limerick is led by the University of Limerick (UL), which publishes a full fee table for its on-campus and off-campus villages. For 2026/27, full-year fees range from €5,230 to €8,012 for undergraduates, with a €500 deposit on every listed room. This guide sets out the villages, the fees, what they include and how off-campus renting works in Ireland.
Details come from UL’s fees and payment page, its Plassey Village page, its incoming students FAQ and the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB), checked on 1 November 2026. UL describes the 2026/27 full-year rates as indicative, to be confirmed in summer 2026, so confirm the final amount on your student account.

Postgraduate and medical options
Postgraduates have separate options. For the full academic year 2026/27, UL lists Quigley Residence (€7,740 for a 4-bed apartment, €8,154 for a 2-bed), Brennan Court (€7,709 for a 4-bed) and Troy Village off campus (€7,392 for a 2-bed). A 51-week option runs from 30 August 2026 to 22 August 2027, for example €9,268 for a Thomond/Cappavilla 6-bed apartment. Graduate medical students have 41-week options from 30 August 2026 to 13 June 2027.
How to apply
UL’s Plassey Village has 424 rooms, mostly in houses for eight people, and is open to undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. UL says all incoming students can apply for on-campus accommodation but space is limited, so not every applicant gets a room. Applications usually open in February each year. Applications go through UL’s online portal, with separate routes for CAO applicants, international students and postgraduates. I did not find a published 2027/28 opening date. Contact accommodation@ul.ie or +353 61 202331 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).
Off-campus renting
UL keeps an off-campus listing database and says it does not accept liability for accommodation advertised there. It also names MyHome.ie, Property.ie, Daft.ie and Rent.ie and says it has not vetted those properties or landlords. UL’s scam advice is that landlords should not ask for full rent before you arrive and that you should always sign a contract. For purpose-built student housing, RTB rules cap a deposit at one month’s rent and rent in advance at one month, with a tenancy of no more than 41 weeks unless you ask. Landlords must register tenancies, and agents should hold a PSRA licence.
What to check before you book
- Off campus does not mean cheaper: UL’s Troy and Groody villages are classed as off campus but cost about the same as some on-campus houses.
- Check the sharing size: the cheapest rooms are in 8-bed houses, so you share a kitchen with more people.
- Budget for the whole year: check the dates, since UL’s year runs from 30 August to 19 May.
- Confirm the final fee: UL calls the 2026/27 full-year rates indicative.
I could not verify 2027/28 fees or dates, average private rents in Limerick, or which areas are best for students from official sources, so I have not stated them. Never pay a deposit before you have a written agreement and proof the property is genuine.
